BBQ Beef Short Ribs

BEWARE: This BBQ Sauce is the bomb! It is addictive. And, it does have a lot of sugar. It uses honey as a sweetener, but honey is still sugar. And the honey in this recipe is not raw. So, use it in moderation. Still, it’s delicious! And definitely healthier than any bottled BBQ sauce you’ll find in a store.

I use it on pressure cooked short ribs, grilled chicken, pulled pork, and hamburgers.

Barbecued Chicken, Steamed Asparagus with Ghee, and a Kale Salad

Smokey BBQ Sauce

  • Servings: 8-12
  • Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Difficulty: easy

Ingredients:

1 large can diced organic tomatoes
1 1/2 cup honey
3 Tbsp coconut aminos
1 Tbsp liquid smoke
3 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp salt
1 heaping tsp chipotle powder
1 1/2 tsp chili powder
2 tsp dijon mustard
3 large garlic cloves, diced
1 tsp onion powder
3/4 ground allspice
1 tsp black pepper

Directions:

Put the tomatoes in a saucepan and heat over medium flame until boiling. Then, add the remaining ingredients and turn the flame to low. Simmer, uncovered, stirring every few minutes, until the mixture has reduced by almost half. It will continue to thicken as it cools. Serve warm or cold. This sauce will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for at least 1 week. (I’ve always devoured mine by then, so I can’t tell you if it keeps longer than that.)
