I’ve been battling chronic fatigue for almost 11 years. Wow. 11 years. Shit. Please, nobody ever calculate or tell me how many hours of my life I’ve spent, like today, in bed. 😳 I sleep too much. When I sleep too much, I miss meals and don’t exercise. When I miss meals and don’t exercise, my body starts to go ape shit, more pain, more fevers, more fatigue. Vicious cycle. I have to try harder, but it’s not easy negotiating with sleepy me.
This is a medicinal smoothie. No, it doesn’t have weed in it, but it’s medicinal. Food is medicine.
I wanted to remember and recreate a good “food memory” that I had as a kid: eating “Dreamsicles” with my sister. Those orange covered cream flavored popsicles were one of my favorite parts of childhood, and we devoured them by the box.
This smoothie doesn’t taste like that, but it tastes almost like that. And instead of artificial flavors and loads of sugars and sweeteners, it has whole, organic ingredients and superfood powders, including blue klamath algae and baobab. It’s chock full of protein, magnesium and potassium, and Vitamin C.
I feel better after drinking it.
I’m calling it “Creamcicle Green,” which sounds better than Dreamcicle Green for some reason. You can tell me if you agree.
And if any of you out there are battling chronic fatigue, too, and you have some tips on how to power through, I would love to hear them.
It’s time to get better, now.
Creamcicle Green Smoothie
1 frozen banana
1 small handful of cashews (soaked)
Juice of 1 orange
1 Tbsp vanilla powder
2 Tbsp baobab powder
1 Tbsp grass-fed collagen protein
1 tsp New Earth Wild Algae Blend
2 tsp spirulina powder
2 Tbsp Honey (for best flavor, 2 Tbsp is best. I used 1 because I strictly limit even natural sugars. Maybe try 1 Tbsp first and see how you like it.)
2 cups filtered water
2 cups ice
Blend all ingredients together and serve or store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
